I'm back!

Hello Friends! I just realized that I haven't posted in quite a while! I recently went on vacation with my dad to several national parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon,...) and have spent the last week or two trying to catch up on cleaning my room and doing sooooo much laundry!! (seriously it looked like a tornado passed through!) The scenery was absolutely breathtaking and it positively confirms that we have a creator!!!!
Hopefully I will be posting much more in the next few weeks. I'm working on a series to post and have also thought about doing another giveaway. I would like to reach at least 20 followers before I hold the giveaway so if anyone is interested please leave a comment and let me know! I believe this giveaway will be vintage style jewelry... so I'd love some feedback!

60's Sailor Style-My New Love

Hello Readers! My latest fashion love is the 60's sailor look. Sailor tops and dresses with their knotted sailor scarfs are just to die for! I absolutely love sailor tops when they are paired with white capris or white knee length shorts which were also very popular during the 60's. These outfits are inspired by the first ensemble worn by 'Fanny Brice' in the movie Funny Girl. A sailor inspired look is easily created just by adding a few accessories to some of you own classic pieces. Sometimes women are a little wary of the sailor look because they feel it will make them look tom boyish and little girlish. As you can see from these pictures though, femininity is easily expressed within each ensemble with a grown up flair. Enjoy!

Gladiator Sandals

Alrighty everyone! Here lately I have noticed some pretty unusual clothing ensembles paired with gladiator sandals. For me I prefer them worn with cute capris, shorts, and jeans. I not a real big fan of gladiator sandals with dresses and skirts. To me it creates a clunky look and causes the ankles to look very large. I prefer less dramatic sandals with dresses to create a more slender look. Here is how I would pair them with capris. As for the dress I chose a more subtle but elegant sandal.

Fashion???

Hey everyone,

I apologize for the lack of posts lately, life has been keeping me extremely busy. During these past few weeks I have been contemplating in what ways God would truly have me use this blog. As I have stated on my blog description I hope to encourage others to stay strong and walk opposite the world by maintaining modesty in clothes we wear. I hope I have succeeded in doing so. I sometimes wonder if this is really anything to be blogging about.(fashion)... I realize of course that appearance is not everything. As I look around at our world though, I am deeply saddened and ashamed of what is now considered modest. Women are converting to the worlds sinful ways, sometimes without even knowing it's wrong. I deeply and earnestly hope that the Lord will show me how to open the eyes of women through this blog and see how sinful the world's clothing choices are. Femininity seems to be completely lost as well.
As I stated before, appearance is not everything ,however, we never know who we will be given the opportunity to witness to. This does not mean that we should convert to their beliefs and dress just to witness to them but I believe we should dress with care and above all modesty. I believe we forget that not all non believers are poor and helpless. There are professional business people who need God just as much. Thus sometimes first impressions do matter. I want others to see that I take the time to dress nice and modestly for God. I am His servant and am to help bring others to Him. This is more important than any business deal so why shouldn't I dress up? This doesn't mean go tend to your garden in high heels. I just think that as followers of Christ we should try to be the best possible person we can be... this also includes manners, work, and schooling. It really frustrates me when I hear people say, " You can't teach an old dog new tricks,' and " I am me. Just accept me as I am." This is displaying lack of care and laziness. We need to make an effort to improve ourselves to glorify God.

God Bless!

If your a mom.... This is for you!

Dear Moms,

Happy Mother's Day! Though most of the time I would leave it at that and sign my name, today I'm going to write a few lines of poetry expressing the overall love we have for you!

You might want to sit down and grab a handkerchief(hopefully those are tears of joy and not of shock at my horrible poetry writing)ha!

The Love I Have For You

From the moment I entered the world
I sensed the love you have for me
It softly entered into my heart
The love you have for me

You pray for me
and play with me
Protect and embrace me
All of this truly shows
The love you have for me

Without a mother like you
I don't know what I'd do
You have taught me to love
our Creator and instilled
His word within me
Yes, this has truly does show
The love you have for me

Mother, you are marvelous
in everything you do
this ever blooming feeling I have is surely,
The love I have for you

God Bless!

This or that? I'm confused!

Well everyone spring has sprung and with it comes some of my least favorite clothing items. The dreaded tube top, spaghetti strap tank and spaghetti halter top! Now matter how perfect your figure is, the tube top is completely unflattering as well as the other items. The stretchy fabric creates a sort of bulge all over especially where it cuts across the top of the chest. It also make your top look very wide.

With the tiny straps of the halter top and the spaghetti strap tank, it creates more broad figure...kind of a macho man look.

To me it's simply not feminine as well as pretty cheap looking. There is also no support. When looking for springy tops try for a tank with thicker straps for a more proportionate look and shirts with a more structured form.

Of course there are more structured sleeveless tops which are much more flattering as well and totally cute, but definitely need a sweater or tank underneath them. Here is a really cute top that would look darling with a simple cardigan!

Outfit number one!

Ok here is my day one outfit for the thrift store fashion week over at AmandaBeth's! These picture are absolutely horrible! Since I would prefer not to show my face it makes it much harder to get good pictures.

Ok the shirt is a hand-me-down and the brand is St. John's Bay. The shoes and shorts are not hand-me-downs but I did get them at discount. The necklace is one my great grandma has let me have and the handbag I made from old fabric my grandma gave me! Ok seriously this pic is so awful I can't believe I'm posting it!

T-shirt or Dress? I'm confused!

Hey everyone! While searching through spring dresses on various sites, I am disgusted and astonished at how revealing the junior's dresses are. While the styles are cute they are entirely to short and much too low in the neckline. Where they call them dresses they look more like shirts.

Actually, several if not most of the pictures themselves strike me as inappropriate for any age range in terms of modeling. I don't know about you but I am certainly not going to follow the media's worldly ideas of 'style'. I have chosen to honor God with the clothes I wear.

Unfortunately all the dresses I have found so far are all like these pictures.

I'm truly ashamed that the media is telling young women to dress so crudely. This image of looking like an immature party animal is truly sickening. Really the styles all look the same and appear cheap at times. What's wrong with dressing feminine, classy, elegant and above all modest? I'd rather have respect for myself and others by keeping myself covered. Why wouldn't you rather look genteel and refined than trashy and crude? Sadly most young people are drawn into the crowd because of peer pressure. Below are pictures of how I would prefer to dress.

This is so much more stylish. It also has character and designs that aren't the same pattern that every store carries. With pieces like this your able to make your own fashion statement but by creating a feminine image.

As I hope you all can see this is a topic I am very passionate about. After all I created this blog for the very purpose of encouraging young ones as well as adults to grow in their walk with God and stand strong in His word especially in the fashion world.

Most of all I hope to honor Him with what I post on this blog. Also sometimes first appearances do matter and I would rather have someone look at me and say, "There is something different about her." I want people to see me and notice how I am following something greater than the world. I am following the most marvelous, wonderful creator of the universe. My heavenly Father!!!!!

Lovely!!

Such a sweet ensemble this is! Each of these clothing items on their own would be very plain but when they are assembled together a whole new lovely creation is made! The delicate pink shirt with the simple elegantly styled blue jean skirt is a very casual combo. With the delicate shoes in a adorable color and the elegant ring not to mention the sophisticated vintage handbag, you now have an outift that is ready for anything! If you have some rather plain items but want to dress them up, this is a great example of how to do just that! In other words sometimes you just need to let the accessories do the talking!

Belts!

Great question Katie G.! For those of you who may not have read her comment on my last post, here is her question: When is the "right" time to wear belts? What kind of outfits do they go good with?
I absolutely love belts but at times they can be a bit tricky. My absolute favorite belt I have (well actually it's my mom's!) is a big chunky black belt that came from Ann Taylor. Sometimes it can be difficult to know what type of shirt, sweater, or dress to wear with them or if the belt is too big or too small. Remember that a belt is not just for holding your pants up but can be used to add detail or a splash of color to any outfit. They also can accentuate your waste line to give a slimmer appearance. Here are some helpful ideas that will make it easier for you too know when to add a belt as your accessory! Another great thing to keep in mind is that they can be used in casual wear or worn to dress up an outfit!!!

Dressed like a Dream!

I am constantly amazed at the beauty and designs of so many vintage dresses. It's so inspiring to examine and study the intricate details and the patterns themselves. Just think... somebody actually created them from their own ideas! To me when you see the beauty of design and understand how marvelous and extraordinary the creations of other people (as long as they are not inappropriate..ha!) , how delicate, intricate, and complex they can be, it helps you to appreciate all the more how astounding the creations of God are!! Truly the world declares His works! After all He made us and well... EVERYTHING!!! It's so inspiring!!!!

Of course there are tons of today's styles I enjoy but let's face it, they just don't have the class and elegant feminine patterns anymore. Not to mention you have to add or alter everything so it's modest! Seriously, when you go to buy a dress now they are so short you have to wear leggings or blue jeans under them!! Here are some photos that I love to look at for inspiration!

What greater inspiration do we need than this??

These dresses are so feminine and elegant! (It is to be assumed that when there is a low neckline in a picture, it would definitely need to be altered first before I would wear it!!)

Ok and my all time greatest inspiration (besides the Bible), comes from the movie Hello Dolly! The sets, costumes, songs, and everything else are just so extraordinarily beautiful! The pictures simply do not do them justice so you'll have to watch the movie!!! Seriously I could watch it over and over again! Irene Maloy's millinery shop is so gorgeous not to mention the Harmonia Gardens!!!! Everything is just so bright and exciting!! It's an adventure Barnaby!!

God Bless!
